Ranelagh Gardens to close
Posted January 7th, 2011The Parks and Drainage Division are currently undertaking works in Ranelagh Gardens Park resulting from a recent ‘fish kill’ in the park’s pond over the Christmas/New Year period.
This work involves:
- Lowering the water level of the Pond
- Removal off site by the Fisheries Board any remaining fish in the pond
- Cleaning of the pond of all inorganic and organic material
- Pruning and thinning of vegetation on the island pond
- Re-filling the pond with water on completion of the above works
In order to facilitate the above and ensure minimum risk to the public from work’s traffic it has been considered necessary to close the park to the general public. It is anticipated that the park will remain closed until the works are completed, approximately in mid- January.
Water samples have been taken from the pond and these are currently be analysed for contaminants.
