Fine Gael selects its final Dublin candidates tonight

Posted January 10th, 2011

Eoghan Murphy is contesting the Fine Gael General Election selection convention in Dublin South East. The convention is taking place tonight at 7:30pm in The D4 Berkley, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. Candidates for the election are selected by the local membership and only registered members are entitled to vote. It is the last selection convention to take place in Dublin.

Eoghan is a Councillor in the Pembroke-Rathmines ward in Dublin South East. He was first elected in 2009 where he topped the poll in his constituency.

Before entering politics, Eoghan worked in international arms control, mostly in the area of nuclear weapon disarmament. He has worked for various organisations, including the United Nations, in London, Geneva and Vienna. Upon his election he left his job as a speechwriter at the nuclear test-ban treaty commission in Vienna to work full-time as a Councillor for Dublin.

The country is changing, and it will continue to change in the coming years. Eoghan wants to be a part of that change, to make his contribution to public life. He is asking Fine Gael members for their No. 1 vote this Monday so that, come Tuesday, Fine Gael will have its election team up and running and working to win.
