Going places with books, the summer reading programme that runs in public libraries throughout July and August, begins today. The Minister for Education and Lord Mayor will be launching the programme at 11.45 in Rathmines Library.

This Programme is primarily targeted at primary school children and is designed to encourage them to read ten or more books over the summer break. Children who meet the challenge will receive a certificate at the end of the summer and more than 100 events have been planned by the Dublin City Library network as part of the initiative.
