Sandymount Disruptions – Irish WaterPosted October 19th, 2017
I met with Irish Water in Clanna Gael last night to get some clarity on the upcoming works in Sandymount.
They confirmed to me that:
- -Businesses in the village will not be affected before Christmas
- -No water supply will be turned off before 9am, so preparing for school or work shouldn’t be a problem
- -When the water is turned off, it should just be for a few hours
- -The main disruption will be to traffic – stop/go systems will be in place
- -More localised information will be delivered in advance

As part of a project to replace and upgrade pipes, Irish Water will be carrying out works in Sandymount over a 12 -14 week period, beginning in two weeks (approximately 30th October).
A drop-in public information evening will be held next Wednesday, 18th October from 3 – 7pm in the Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club on Sean Moore Road.
Households will be notified two weeks in advance of disruptions to service and works on their road being carried out. A reminder will be sent two days beforehand.
The project will be carried out on a phased basis. The first phase of the project will involve the replacement of ageing water mains and shared backyard service connections along Gilford Drive, Gilford Park, Gilford Road, Gilford Avenue, Lea Road and Lea Crescent, Sandymount Castle Road, Sandymount Castle Drive and Sandymount Castle Park. The second phase of the project will commence in January 2018 and will involve the replacement of water mains and shared backyard services along Sandymount Road, Seafort Avenue and Wilford Park.
