Great news for local schools; the Harold’s Cross greyhound site has been acquired and will house a 16 class primary school and a 1,000 student secondary school. The catchment area will be Dublin 6/Clonskeagh and Dublin 6W.
It is hoped that the primary school will open in 2019 and the secondary in 2020. The patronage of these schools is yet to be determined. Applications are not open at present. I will share more information as soon as it becomes available.

Minister Bruton today confirmed that contracts have been signed for the acquisition of the former Harold’s Cross stadium. The transaction is due to close shortly at which stage the property will transfer into the Minister’s ownership.

Great news for our area! Minister Bruton has announced new schools to be established by 2022.
Several schools are planned for the constituency:
– Two new primary schools; one in Dublin 6, to open in 2019; one in Dublin 2/4, to open by 2021.
– Two new secondary schools; one in Dublin 6, opening in 2020; one in Dublin 2/4, to open by 2021.
The location and patronage of these schools is yet to be determined. Applications are not open at this point. I have requested more information from the Department of Education and will share it with you as soon as it is available.

The temporary location of the new Educate Together Primary School, whose permanent location will be Harcourt Terrace, has not yet been finalised.
A construction tender is being reviewed for St Christopher’s National School on Haddington Road, building is expected to recommence next month.
